QuincyQuin One of my friends feeds her dog a vegan diet. I’ve never heard of doing this before, and I’m curious. Is it possible for a dog to be fed a vegan diet and still be healthy?
Ice_Pop I heard that it’s fine to put a dog on a vegan diet. I’ve seen a dog food recipe that uses chickpeas for protein. Vegan’s not advised for cats, though. Not sure why that is.
YellowTomato In my understanding, cats can’t be vegan because cats are obligate carnivores. Cats need to eat meat to survive, as opposed to dogs who are omnivores. But I could be wrong.
Daltjr Interesting topic. I didn’t know a dog or cat could be vegans. I think it would be hard to keep cats from killing other small animals (mice, moles), especially outdoor cats. I don’t think I would ever try to feed any of my animals a vegan diet.
